Entry to Hale

Standard entry levels for day boys are Pre-primary, Year 4 and Year 7. Offers of places are made two years in advance for Pre-primary and one year in advance for Year 4. For boarders and Year 7s with a family connection, offers are made three years in advance. For day students entering Year 7, an academic entrance exam is held early in Year 5.

Pre-primary

Entry into Pre-primary is determined by the number of days from the date of birth to the date of registration. Priority is given to siblings of current Ò»±¾µÀstudents and sons/grandsons of Old Haleians.

Year 4

Entry into Year 4 is determined by an academic entrance test, which is sat in Year 3. Places are offered in order of merit, based on the results of the test. Recent school reports and NAPLAN results are requested and can form a component of this academic assessment.

Year 7

Year 7 entry for boys who are siblings of current students, sons or grandsons of Old Haleians, or boarders is granted provided the boy has been registered three years prior to the date of entry and the Endowment Fee payment is made when requested (three years prior to entry).

Entry for boarders is also subject to the availability of beds at the registered year level. The preferred entry into boarding is Year 7, at the beginning of Middle School, however other entry years will be considered on request.

Year 7 entry for boys without the above affiliation is determined by an academic entrance test which is sat in Term 1 of Year 5. This is a competitive testing process, and places are offered in order of merit, based on the results of the test.Ìý Recent school reports and NAPLAN results are requested and can form a component of this academic assessment.ÌýÌý

Other entry points

Vacancies may occur from time to time at other year levels in the School, including limited places in the Senior School in Years 9, 10 and 11. Boarding entry is also available from Year 9. Entry at these levels is dependent on availability of places, the sighting of previous school reports and an interview with the Headmaster or delegate.
